Dr Padmja Sharma

Dr. Padmja Sharma, born on March 5, 1962, (Birmi) Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan (India) and holds a prestigious position in the field of contemporary Hindi literature.

Drawing her inspiration from social atrocities faced by women in rural India, she started writing with an idea of empower women. Very recently she was awarded as ‘Best Reportage’ writer for her book, ‘Hannso na Tara’, which highlights social and cultural conditions of women who suffers from AIDS, leprosy and also depicts struggle of homeless people. Her poem titles ‘Aurat’ is one of many poems that was highly acclaimed in the Hindi literature society.

Ms. Sharma has also attended “Vishva Hindi Sammelan” (United Nation, USA) and was invited to present a paper Tokyo University (Japan) as an Indian representative. She has also been invite to present her poems in International Jaipur Literature Festival. So far, she has published 21 books. Seven of the books are collection of her poems, while others include short stories, reportage, interviews etc.

She has actively written in the field of struggling phase of people living below poverty line and women empowerment in various nationally and internationally recognized newspapers. Her various writing have been broadcast constantly for the last 25 years in All India Radio, Akashwani, Jodhpur

In the past, Ms. Sharma also has held a prestigious position of a Principal at Mahesh Girls College. She is also member of Gandhi peace foundation Jodhpur.

Now she dedicates her full time to Literary work.
