Abdul Hameed AlQaed
Abdul Hameed Al Qaed, is a poet, novelist, writer and translator from Bahrain.
Many of his poems and other works have been published in Arabic newspapers, magazines and periodicals. He has taken part in many poetry recitals in Bahrain and overseas.
He has translated many English and American poems, short stories and essays into Arabic, including the well-known “Van Gogh Letters” which he translated from English to Arabic. He also Translated “Nooran” novel, by Bahraini writer Farid Ramadan, as part of a joint graphic work with Jamal Abdul Rahim, a famous Bahraini artist.
His first poetry collection was “Lover in the Era of Thirst”. He published his second book of poetry, “Noise of Whisper”, in 2003 which was printed in Arabic, but it included an English translation of the work by the writer himself. This work won first prize in the “Distinguished Book” competition for the year 2003, organized annually by the Ministry of Information in Bahrain.
His third book “Alienation of Violets” was published in March 2010. It is also a bilingual collection of poetry (Arabic/English) translated by the writer himself. His 4th poetry collection “Nothing Matters Anymore” was published in 2016.
In 2007 he published “Pearl, Dreams of Shell – Anthology of Bahrain Contemporary Poetry” in USA. It is a collection of poetry for 29 contemporary poets from Bahrain compiled and translated by him and is mainly distributed in USA and UK and could be found on Amazon.com and some other website.
In 2017, he published his first novel “Love Has Ashes” and now he is writing his 2nd novel “Path of Spider”. There also two poetry collections ready for printing: “Dancing inside the Body” and “Rain Spray Astonishment”. He has also another book ready for printing “Light for Darkness”, which is a collection of his essays that have been published in local newspapers.
He has a weekly column in Akhbar Al Khaleej, a Bahrain local newspaper, called “Glow of Writing”.
