Sustainable Humanity
In a world that spins with nature’s grace,
People treat with embrace.
But sometimes what can be seen
The treatment is quite obscene
With the world crumbling apart,
There will be nothing left to renew or restart.
Nothing for the youth,
Nothing but the harsh truth.
Beneath the sapphire sky, a planet’s plea,
A call to unity, let our actions set us free.
Whispers of the wind, a song in the air,
A promise to protect, a vow to care.
In fields of green, where flowers bloom,
A symphony of life, dispelling gloom.
The dance of leaves, a timeless sway,
Sustainable choices light the way.
Produce less waste,
Share and donate.
Use better wood,
Buy sustainable goods.
The future children now smile all free,
The burdens of the past now off their knees.
Sustainability, a shared endeavor,
In unity, we will bloom forever
The future we wish for is a future where,
Life for humanity is not unfair.
The world still spins with such grace.
In nature’s arms, our futures we embrace.
About the Poet
Adel Rashid is a 15 years old studying in the 11th year in Dubai Scholars private school. His inspiration for the poem was the idea of unity for the cause of the greater good. To be precise the idea that if all of humanity bands together for a cause like sustainability we could better the world for the generations ahead of us instead of being selfish and leave the newer with scraps. As he was writing the poem he felt an connection to the ideas he tried to fit in the text. Writing the poem taught him alot about the ways to approach sustainability.
