To Mother, Utmost Respect
By Dr. Daisaku Ikeda

Great mother,
Sublime mother,
Majestic mother,
A mother who is gentle,
Yet stronger than anyone,
A mother who always smiles,
Entertaining and formidable.
Though she may appear childish,
She is a sharp researcher of life,
A master of living.
In a world without a mother, there is darkness,
But in a world with a mother,
It is forever warm, like the seasons,
With fragrant breezes and a garden of harmony.
Mother always,
In pain or joy,
In sadness or delight,
She creates a stage of comfort and peace.
Furthermore,
She is a sublime healer,
Mending the wounds of the heart.
Her heart is deeper than the ocean floor
With open eyes of truth,
She warmly smiles familiarly.
A mother,
Day after day,
Whether in the early morning,
Or in the dead of night,
Silently conveys, ‘I won’t let you go.’
Her great soul,
Like the sun ablaze in crimson,
Bestows rays of grace.
A mother
who gifts us with benevolent light
Disliking all that is gloomy,
Every day,
She points to the tower of peace,
Directing the flow of people.
With each encounter,
She weaves joy,
Taking one step or two,
Striving to build a better society,
A champion of human rights,
A warrior for peace,
A fighter of compassion, our mother
To any slander,
To any authority,
She never yields,
A mother of justice.
Gratitude to that mother,
Utmost respect to that mother
