Lost Values
A little child came skipping down the lane,
To buy some bread, but it was in vain
The shops were closed, with silver locks,
Not a single whisper, like a pin drop.
The deadly virus that roams the streets,
Day and night, without retreat
Seemed to have arrived at the little village,
To paint its silent, deadly image.
For years this virus caused havoc and destruction,
The people, the society, all in corruption
“Oh, what do we do?” Everyone panicked,
“We want to live, without any conflicts!”
The virus took away not only lives,
But morals, principles, and, all that thrived.
It is our duty to retrieve the values lost,
And tolerate one another despite the cost.
“How do we do this?” You might ask,
Well let me tell you, it’s quite a simple task!
They say a little goes a long way,
Yes, the little things you do every day!
The naughty boy from down the street,
The scary old woman you didn’t want to meet
What if they’re not as bad as you think?
Those negative thoughts may disappear in a blink!
The little girl that was bullied in school,
By others you thought were really cruel,
Why don’t you help her stand up?
Don’t be a bystander, be her backup!
These little things help us coexist,
Solve our problems without clenched fists!
We can avoid wars and fights,
To protect countless, innocent lives.
Let’s make up for what we lost,
The bridge of values and principles we crossed
Kindness, tolerance and many more,
What if we finally open the door…?
