A Caterpillar’s Destiny
Oh my dear,
My dear little caterpillar
Don’t you cry
You’ll soon grow into a beautiful butterfly.
As the universe reveals my destiny
Little legs jumping jolly,
Knowing the tears in my eyes,
Will one day fossilize.
Residing in an unjust world,
Scary experiences that make me curl
Yet I refuse to lie in my deathbed
Because my beautiful mother once said,
Oh my dear,
My dear little caterpillar
Don’t you cry
You’ll soon grow into a beautiful butterfly.
Confident in my capabilities
I’ll climb the mountain efficiently
“There’s nothing to be afraid of,
I have to stay tough!”
Although darkness may creep
Think about the horizon at the peak
Reward so sweet, so tender
My motivation to hike as I remember;
Oh my dear,
My dear little caterpillar
Don’t you cry
You’ll soon grow into a beautiful butterfly.
But dreams pause as we awaken,
Stories are never continued, ends are taken
People step and step and step
My soft body full of regret, regret, regret
I tried my best, yet the effect seemed to bend
Has evil still found its way in the end?
Horizon transformed into pitch black,
Time invested that could never be taken back.
Fatigued I climb up a tree,
I digest myself in darkness, the future I foresee
Blood oozes from my aching body
“I give up, I’m just a nobody”
Hanging pretty before I lose my time
I think to myself “Was it not worth the climb?”
If I had to die, I’d like to die beautifully
Maybe being a butterfly was just a dream I was too blind to ever see
And as I hang up at night, I hear voices outside
And I’ll listen to the memories as they cry
Soon, I hear wings that flap and purify
The voice of a beautiful butterfly;
Oh my dear,
My dear little caterpillar
Don’t you cry
You’ll soon grow into a beautiful butterfly.
At last! Freeing from the cocoon
Wings that spread and bloom
My mother’s promise pursues
As my destiny is proven,
so true
Rewarded for my resilience
The view of the horizon, an experience
Oh fellow caterpillars, don’t be so quick to die
Be persistent to morph into a beautiful butterfly.
