Unwithered Resilience
The white crystals, slowly brought
A deceived vision of an angelic chain.
Every branch shook with frost,
icy winds slicing deep pain.
All signs of green blurred and lost,
rusty brown, all about.
The crumbling barks, barriers and dust,
a vain of the knighting sprout.
The roots stayed buried,
deep and undisturbed.
Gentle drops of blue,
Swilled through veins unheard.
The sweet chirps of wings fluttering,
the noisy rushes of Spring coming by.
Each little hole of complete void,
made a tree to try.
Fallen pink petals blossomed;
Pretty, sweet, divine.
Every notch, branch and vine
Stood up, tall, very fine.
The moon sets the sun rise,
cycle repeating every time.
My branches of wisdom,
denser as seconds pass by.
You can unearth my love,
or dig my greatest fears.
But like a free let dove,
I shall float in those conquered tears.
About the Poet
Shreenika Gandasarakula is a Grade 9 student from GEMS NEW MILLENNIUM School – Al Khail
She considers herself to a 14 year old amateur poet who finds peace in drafting poetry. It allows her to escape the real world for a while and get trapped in my bubble of wild imagination. She tries to make her poems a message for inspiration, hope and pride. The play of words, and use of figures is what fascinated her about the art of poetry.
