This Spirit of Mine
My palms paddled, the deep blue seas behind
Thrust and throttled, till my body lost feels.
Fear engulfs, there is no end far beneath me,
With sole second bodying eternity.
My legs carried storm against me,
Eyes covered in white glaze
Winds mimicking blades on skin,
My heart frozen with despair.
I bolted across the boiling sun,
My head throbbing much,
Blood lacking my pale feet,
Asking for a delicate touch.
Slicing through the diamond wall, my will
Like a ray of light,
Shining through the dark knight.
The pint sized powerhouse, glow
Helped my espree to grow
There at the edge of a cliff,
Almost crumbled,
lay determination asking to flow.
The feel lit my mind aglow.
Causing to discover, the part of me
One that begs to be free.
The brass bound part of me
Finally let free.
The spirit of mine is invincible,
Indestructible and unbreakable.
This spirit of mine,
Is divine.
This spirit of mine.
Made me shine.
About the Poet
Shreenika is from Global Indian International School, a 13-year old student. Writing is her relaxation hobby. Drafting poems as well as stories help her while away time and get lost in her little world of creativity and imagination. Her poems are usually freestyle and have a mix of emotions, which give out a meaningful message expressed differently. When she first started writing in 2020, she was fascinated by the wordplay and use of figures of speech. All thanks to the opportunities given by my teachers, she started writing regularly. For poetic heart this year, she will be presenting the poem- ‘This Spirit of mine.’
