The search which does not exhaust the tormented soul does not lead to any truth,

The search which does not hurt the wounded soul does not lead to any wisdom,

The search which does not burn as ember on the naked skin does not make us understand the meaning of life!

Only the wise understands that,

Despite the search of one thousand suns, if he only could have understood the darkness,

He could have appreciated also the fainting light.

La ricerca che non stanca l’anima tormentata non conduce ad alcuna verità

La ricerca che non duole all’anima trafitta non porta ad alcuna saggezza,

La ricerca che non brucia come brace sulla carne nuda non ci fa comprendere il senso della vita.

Solo chi è ormai saggio comprende che

pur cercando i suoi mille soli, se solo avesse compreso il buio,

avrebbe imparato ad apprezzare anche una flebile luce.
