
Kamal Musallam
Born in Kuwait to a Lebanese mother and a Jordanian father, Kamal was raised in an artistic family where he was exposed to a wide spectrum of music, art and culture. Kamal Musallam is one of today’s most sought-after guitarists and modern oud players in the field of jazz-fusion, having achieved international acclaim for his innovative merging of musical genres with Arabic sounds and rhythms. Since his move to the United Arab Emirates in 2002, Kamal has released eight successful albums, including several official Grammy Award Selections, as he is also a voting member at the Recording Academy. He collaborated with such luminaries as Hans Zimmer, Sting, Yo-Yo Ma, Billy Cobham, Bobby McFerrin and George Benson, and performed at some of the world’s most prestigious music festivals including the Umbria Jazz Festival (Italy), the JavaJazz Festival (Indonesia), the Sori Festival (South Korea), the Dubai & Abu Dhabi Jazz Festivals (United Arab Emirates), the Southbank Centre London Jazz Festival (United Kingdom) and the Guangzhou Asian Games (China), to name a few. In 2023 Kamal released his 8th yet his first live album “Handmade In Hummus Land – Live In Dubai”, recorded Live at Expo2020 Dubai during November of 2021. Kamal is also involved in musical instrument development and has his signature hybrid oriental guitars made and released by Ibanez (Japan) and the hybrid MultiOud by Godin (Canada)

It was sheer delight to listen to the Oud music ….the notes were extremely mellifluous but at the same time modern. The musical Interlude provided by Kamal Mussalam was soothing and simple yet arresting, fascinating and artistic.
