Rekindling Values
Rekindle an old flame
Reclaim those manners and values taught
For what once was lost under the influence of friends
Is now ignited, unreigned by in vogue styles
Trends that defy all traditional values
Lesson taught and reiterated at a young age
So that when we stand on the world’s stage
Without anyone to hold our hand
We won’t be judged by scrutinizing eyes
On these values our reputation lay
Values at a time
Governed the game
It had meaning in life
In darkness they were the lights
But now everything comes at a price
Values are no longer essential
It is nothing more than a name
We act innocent and timid at home
But at school our demeanor changed
It is no longer important
Not that preferential
If we show sympathy we’re taunted
It’s one against them all
But what do we have to lose
If the right path we choose
The path to courage
And stepping out of the crowd
Because to rekindle values is to ignite
And to ignite is to start a flame
A never-ending flame
One that sparkles bright
Which burns on and on
One person at a time
And in the end
The world will be
A better place to live in
For you
And for me.
