Sony Velukkaran, residing in the UAE, hails from Kerala, India. Holding a Masters degree in Malayalam Literature  from Calicut University. He also holds an MBA from JNU and has completed Journalism & Mass Communication from Bharathiya Vidyabhavan. He is one of the editors of Navamalayali, a prominent online magazine in Malayalam.

Sony published his first Book on Haiku Poems ” Mulamthandile Samgeetham ” in 2016. His second book, which is an edited version of Haiku poems written by 22 Haiku poets, has been released at the Sharjah Book Fair in 2017.
Ottayithal Vasantham– A translation of 5 short stories in the Anthology, edited by Dr. Shihab Ghanem, was published in 2019. In 2022 SIBF, the translation of short stories ” Kathakalude Thuramukham”(Translation of Arabic short stories Harbour of Tales, edited by Dr.Shihab Ghanem) released. Many of his poems have been published in various anthologies and magazines.
After obtaining his UGC affiliation, he became a teacher in various schools in Bangalore and had conducted Student Counselling and Personality development sessions. Presently, Sony is working as a business head at a Swedish based marine firm.
