Writing under the pen name ‘Sheen Kaaf Nizam’ born in 1945 in India and is an eminent critic, an acclaimed Urdu poet and literary scholar. He has written 12 books of urdu poetry and 2 books of criticism. His poems have been translated in English and many Indian languages . His poetry collection ‘Gumshuda Dair ki Gunjti Ghantiyan’ has won the 2010 Sahitya Akademi Award in Urdu. He has been honoured by the President of India and received National Awards ‘Iqbal Samman’ (2006-07); ‘Begum Akhtar Ghazal’ (2006).

Also a Recipient of Bhasha Bharti Sammaan, Iqbal Sammaan, Mehmood Shirani & Marwar Ratan awards, he served as the convener of the Urdu Advisory in Sahitya Academy, and also as the Vice Chairman of Urdu Academy, Executive Board of Maulana Azaad University, Chair person Anjuman-I-tamir-I-urdu.
