The Mason
It had ended. The night,
Of nescience and despair.
Hope dawned, dazzled, bare.
And he awoke, amongst scraps and smoke,
A mason, named Unity awaited men folk.
He strode on the wretched road, alone.
With a hatchet to break them all,
The walls of brick men built so tall.
Bricks of feud, of qualm, of hate,
That barred the path of the golden gate.
Brick by brick he wrecked the wall.
Masoned a bridge, masoned a bond,
Linking the broke and the beau monde.
A bridge of love, of faith, harmony
Raised above rage, power, envy.
The bridge was done, except for some.
A void in the bridge was a disgrace,
So Unity set himself into the base.
About The Poet
Sonali is a grade 12 student of Gems Our Own English High school, Dubai. Reading, writing, making sketches and fine art pieces and travelling around the world are her hobbies and life time dreams.
She’s born with latent talents of creativity and an artistic hand. She finds it amusing, how a cosmic-like mind, full of wonderful imaginations can be put down with ink on paper. She has been mesmerizing readers with her meticulous writing skills, since the very young age of 11. And with passage of time her kinder writings transformed into matured and more thoughtful lines. Natural beauty, compassion for humanity and her daily life observations are few among her sources of inspirations that make her mind and hand to clothe a blank paper with the attire of attractive word robe.
