Wheels of Fortune

by. Fuad Mahmood, Manzil

Round and round the fortune wheel turns,

Lucky am I to choose where it will stop.

But it is indeed the greatest of wheels.

For wheels within wheels cover its surface.

As the turning of one merits the turning of another.

I speak “Stop” and the wheels come to a halt.

An infinite number of wheels within wheels appear.

It’s impossible to read them all.

In some we rise, some, we fall.

In some, we ignite the sun. Some, we cast the rain.

We lose ourselves in this chaos.

And then we are found.
