And Yet

Soft‐footed tigers are our thoughts   

That stalk each  other, fearful of a fight

While words like vultures line the field

Waiting to feed upon the bloody fray   


Of  all the creatures that the jungle holds

The tiger dreads none but those of his kind

And yet in other tigers’ eyes alone   

He finds that fierce reflection of his own
