Rida Hussain, is a proud student of Grade -XI, at the Indian High School,
From the young budding age of nine in Grade four, Rida, with her exemplary passion for reading books gradually enhanced her interest in imprisoning her imagination into words.
Being a smart observer with diverse personality, she writes poems that emerge from her soul. As a person she always believes that communication & understanding are the most important elements of connecting to people and ensures that her poems clearly express her thoughts.
Apart from her passion for poetry, she has immense interests in dancing, photography and reading. She is delighted to express her views on tolerance through her poem ‘A Baleful Void’
A Baleful Void
Every morning I wake up and look out,
to see conflicts, destruction and drought.
Mother earth losing her peace and greenery,
with terrorism and dissonance filling the scenery.
I close my eyes for a second and think,
this divine planet with its beings are on the brink,
..of extinction and damage to humanity,
we are slowly proving our insanity.
No matter how big mansions we build,
There is a void of world peace that has to be filled.
With growing diminution of endurance in all…
violence and crisis is what befalls.
In a world that aspires for peace and concord,
tolerance is something that is definitely adored.
To accept others differences heartily
..is the fuel to the fire of harmony.
With mankind growing everyday in ignorance,
Not realizing the solution to all issues is tolerance.
If we listen to others with tolerance in ears,
there will be neither tears nor fears.
And now I go to sleep again,
Hoping to wake up in a world with no pain.
Where violence, wars and disasters cease,
And the news speak only of peace.
About the School
Established in 1961, the school is managed by Board Members. It was the first expatriate Indian educational institution to be established in Dubai. It, is the oldest, largest and the leading educational institution in the Gulf Region. The land for the school was granted by the then ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Over the last 5 decades the school has emerged as a towering citadel of quality education with recognition of the same from many quarters.
Among these, we are most proud of our achievement – the rating of Outstanding by the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau (DSIB) for 5 consecutive years, the first Indian curriculum (CBSE) school to receive this rating and the first school to receive certification from CBSE as “CBSE New Generation Schools”.
I.H.S. is two-times winner (2003, 2005) of the “Sheikh Hamdan Award for Distinguished School and School Administration”, the highest educational award in the country. Besides I.H.S students and teachers have the distinction of winning the same award for “Distinguished Academic Performance” in some category or other, every year since the inception of the Award in 1998.
The school has approximately 9,641 boys and girls on its rolls and every year we send more than 700+ students (Grade 10) for All India Secondary School Examination and more than 500+ students (Grade 12) for the school-leaving public examination conducted by the CBSE.
