Dr Khalil F. AliAbouni
Dr. Khalil Faraj Ailabouni was born in the city of Tiberias in Palestine in 1940. He owns a Degree from Cairo University in Bachelor of Arts, Documents and Libraries as well as a Baccalaureate in Literary. During his studies in Cairo, he practiced radio work on Radio Palestine affiliated with the Voice of the Arabs, as a programmer, writer of plays and series, and presenter of literary programs through which poems of Palestinian poets were published in the occupied territories, such as Mahmoud Darwish, Tawfiq Ziyad, Samih al-Qasim and others.
On January 1, 1971, he arrived in Abu Dhabi to work as a program observer for the fledgling radio station, which had only been established for a year and nine months.
In Abu Dhabi, Dr Khalil found stability, security, peace, and freedom that he had not experienced in any other country. With the support and patronage of His Excellency Dr. Manea Al-Otaiba, he presented a program on petroleum entitled Black Gold, which began on the radio on the first of February 1971, and then on the television on the first of May of the same year.
The program lasted twenty years, from 1971 to 1990, and in that year he worked as director of the office of His Excellency Dr. Manea Saeed Al Otaiba.
On the 2nd of December 1971, he had the honor of announcing the establishment of the United Arab Emirates after he attended the event and recorded it for radio.
In 1975, he moved from the Ministry of Information to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, where he established the Petroleum Information Department.
In March 2009, the International Media Academy in Canada, in cooperation with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, awarded Dr. Khalil an honorary doctorate.
Dr Khalil also has media activity in the national media, most of which focuses on literature and poetry.
His book Abu Dhabi, the Time of Beginnings, was published by Zayed Heritage Centre, and a poem by the Academy of Poetry.
As for poetry, he has published a collection of poems; Recently, he published the Khalil Trilogy published by the Ministry of Culture. There is also a special column titled ‘Arabic language to where?’ which was published in Al-Bayan newspaper weekly, every Wednesday.
Dr Khalil’s special relationship with the late H.R.H Sheikh Zayed had the greatest impact on the development of his cultural perceptions, and now he maintains a stock of audio and video tapes that tells the thought and strategy of the leader and his great achievements. That is what helped him write ‘The Book of Zayed the Human’. This book does not carry the character of an academic research, but rather stories and memories that brought him together with the father, the leader, H.R.H Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy upon his soul.
