He is a professor of modern Arabic literature and modern criticism at university of Jordan.
Has obtained Ph.D. from Cairo university 1978.
He has worked at different universities: Yarmouk university , UTK university (USA), university of Jordan, King Saud university, UAE university & Sharjah university . He has been chair and member of many editorial boards and board of trustee for some cultural institutions. Also, a member of the Jordan academy of Arabic.
He has written around 35 books in literary studies and criticism, six collections of poems, two plays and two novels.
Has been  honored with state award of Jordan 1993,  King Faisal International prize 2001 and for Palestine state for literature 2020.
