Dr. Padmja Sharma
Dr. Padmja Sharma was born on March 5, 1962, in Birmi, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan (India). She holds a prestigious position in the field of contemporary Hindi literature.
Drawing her inspiration from social atrocities faced by women in rural India, she started writing with an idea of empowering women. Very recently she was awarded as ‘Best Reportage’ writer for her book ‘Hannso na Tara’, which highlights social and cultural conditions of women who suffer from AIDS, leprosy and also depicts the struggles of homeless people. Her poem titled ‘Aurat’ is one of many poems that is highly acclaimed in the Hindi literature society.
Ms. Sharma has also attended “Vishva Hindi Sammelan” (United Nation, USA) and was invited to present a paper at Tokyo University (Japan) as an Indian representative. She has also been invited to present her poems in the International Jaipur Literature Festival. So far, she has published 21 books. Seven of the books are collection of her poems, while others include short stories, reportage, interviews etc.
She has extensively written about the struggling phase of people who are living below the poverty line and women empowerment in various nationally and internationally recognized newspapers. Her various writings have been broadcast constantly for the last 25 years in All India Radio, Akashwani, Jodhpur.
Ms. Sharma held the prestigious position of Principal at Mahesh Girls College in the past. She is also a member of the Gandhi Peace Foundation in Jodhpur.
She has, at present, completely dedicated herself to her literary work.
