Words by Safia Ahmed
Words, oh words, worst bullets of all,
For they don’t physically hurt
Yet scar your soul
A scar that can’t be healed
Or pushed away nor sealed
Words, oh words quickest bullets of all,
Once out, they are never back
No matter where you shoot’em
Always headed to the heart, oh them.
Words, heaviest bullets of all,
Spitting out of the mouth…
Destructive, repulsive,
With harmful breath, impulsive.
Words, darkest bullets of all,
Some left unsaid, unread
Yet… the heart bled.
Words, oh words,
Poison to the heart,
With nothing to cover the scars
