The Strength of Hope
Encased in a world enduring bloodshed,
A reign of carnage and desolation seems foreordained,
For as men propel their selves to the charms of the changing order,
The cries of those in despair are seldom seen without a shadowy air of disdain,
Yet the throb of aching hearts,
Their stories penned in blood and tears,
Dare to envision a future of a peaceful hearth,
On the coast of a buoyant new frontier,
Man scarcely seeks to fathom the strength of such belief,
For who amongst us can fathom the real strength of dreams?
Yet there remains a sense of strength in a perseverant mind,
Emboldened, defiant – refusing to tear at the seams,
The tales of those long gone show this to be true,
In the span of time, resilience and hope have been seldom shown defeat,
Like the treacherous journey that was embarked on by those fleeing war,
These acts of hope are lauded by us as many a remarkable feat,
Yet the throb of aching hearts,
Their stories penned in blood and tears,
Dare to envision a future of a peaceful hearth,
On the coast of a buoyant new frontier,
Such is the spirit that lies within a human heart,
Known to man by many-a name,
Strength, perseverance or resilience – or so it has been called,
Regardless of name, it is the strength of hope in these that remains the same.
