You Will Live On
Can you hear the whimpers
Of mortals on Earth?
They seem to have been
Doing that since birth
I know not of you worlds
To the wishes of your heart
Yet I may very know
Why you beg to depart
Let me tell you about the world
Where mortals live and die
About the gruesome wars
Where souls travel high
Let me tell you about the world
About the wicked and their fight
For a land, green and hollow
Like their minds corrupt and tight
Let me tell you about the world
Where skin colour is controversial
Where a booklet decides your fate
Where lives are commercial
O! But let me tell you
This world seems to find
A reason for every human
To leave their kind behind
Yet at the same time
This world shares a blessing
Of people warm and altruistic
As the world is progressing
Let me tell you about the world
Where man whispers with a jingle
Words tender and mild
To tell people they are not single
Let me tell you about the world
Of childrens’ giggles and squeals
Of a mother’s ashy eyebags
To a poet’s gentle appeals
Let me tell you about the world
Where smiles take over guns
Where roofs are built and built
To books sheltered for tons
I have a pulchritudinous dream
Where the world makes space
For every breathing creature
To live a life with grace
Forget not that you will
Live and live to die
Yet forget not dear kind
A print you will leave as you fly
You will live on
Like the sky and the birds
Be human I shall say
Even to your words
