Deira International School
Deira International School, is a dynamic high-performing British Curriculum School in Dubai Festival City. We opened our doors in 2005 with a student cohort of 240 students and a teaching team of 35 teachers. In September 2019, as we start our 15th year of operation we welcome 1,800 students and more than 300 members of staff.
A happy and exciting place to learn and work, student-teacher relationships are positive and mutually respectful, creating a wonderful learning community where students thrive, succeed and aspire. Our fully inclusive and international context creates global citizens who from 3 to 18 years of age learn to love learning in all its forms. Our expert specialist staff and exceptional facilities provide wonderful opportunities for a holistic approach to education; sport, performing arts, academic, technological, leadership and creative pathways are on offer, ensuring our students enjoy enriching and varied school experiences within our classrooms and beyond.
We follow an English National Curriculum model which is adapted for both the international and local context, with 80+ nationalities represented in our student body. Our senior students take the Cambridge Board IGCSE examinations in Year 11 and move into the authorised International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme (IBCP) in Years 12 and 13. These highly regarded and internationally recognised pre-university qualifications enable worldwide university entrance for our students. Year on year, our students pursue further education pathways in universities across the world.
As a successful school we will never stand still; we continuously strive for excellence through strategically developing practice and provision to continue to improve. Our DSIB inspection rating of ‘Very Good’ is testament to the high levels of attainment and progress, in all areas of the curriculum, being achieved here at DIS. Care and support rated as ‘Outstanding’, underpins all our decision making and daily practice. Our intense focus on student well-being, health and safety, community building and most importantly personalised learning makes DIS a very special school.
