Sabeena Wahid

About the Poet

Sabeena is a creative and very thoughtful person.  From a young age she has shown keen interest in, and a love for, writing, having composed stories and poems with vivid, imaginative plot lines.

Sabeena enjoys the freedom to step into the shoes of other characters and personas; one of the privileges of writing.

Her passion for Literature originates in her strong background of Drama, but these days, Sabeena’s main inspirations come from current affairs and global political and historical issues.

Universal Harmony on Justice

Look out for each other.
Die for one another.
We bleed the same colour.

That was the infamous dream;
Now we’re trapped, grounded to a retched scheme.
A scheme of evil, horrid and unforsaken way,
See the grim horror, looking on in dismay.

Stormed in, a surprise, waving your flag;
Facing down at us, eyes gleaming like a stag.
You killed us dark, savage, suppressing the minority;
You smiled, fair skinned, greeting the majority.

Black and white, colours sparsely separated.
Loved ones, look around, we’re all segregated.
Cries, tears, whimpers, screaming for freedom;
Control our ways, we know we don’t need ’em.

They say we’re living in harmony, helping each other;
All I see is disparity, the disapproval of the mixing colour.
We cannot love together, we cannot learn together.
The world is not at peace, it will weep forever.

Unless we stop the fighting, stop the hate and crime.
We want to love as you do desire, in patience and time.
We see the dream, see the hope, locked up inside;
Let it free, send it out, let the anger subside.

Look out for each other.
Die for one another.
We bleed the same colour.
