Nafisa Khushnasib Ghazanfar
Nafisa Khushnasib Ghazanfar is a versatile and dedicated poet, writer, and scholar, whose literary work spans a wide range of genres, from children’s literature and humor to profound explorations of modern psychology and metaphysical themes. Born in the winter of 1969 (1348 in the Persian calendar) in the vibrant city of Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan, Nafisa has always been driven by an innate curiosity and passion for diverse fields of knowledge and expression.
Her academic background in journalism, complemented by her private studies in psychology, provided her with the foundation for a career marked by intellectual depth and creative exploration. Nafisa’s writing is characterized by its versatility and its ability to blend humor with serious themes, creating a unique voice that resonates with readers across ages. She has contributed significantly to Afghan literature with a remarkable body of work that includes seven collections of poetry, two books on humor, twenty-two collections of children’s poetry, and four volumes of psychological essays.
Her scholarly work also includes two university-level research papers, Humor in Persian Literature and the Poetry of Parvin Etessami and The News Genre in Radio, Television, and Print Media, which were pivotal in securing her academic advancement to the ranks of Pohanyar and Pohandmal (equivalent to associate and full professor). Nafisa’s academic contributions extend beyond her research; she has published numerous professional articles and has been a passionate educator. From 1995 to 2005, she taught at the Journalism Department of the Faculty of Language and Literature at Balkh University, inspiring countless students with her depth of knowledge and commitment to intellectual growth.
Nafisa has been an active member of the Hafez Literary Association since 2008, working alongside esteemed figures such as the poet Silvana Salmanpour. Her creative journey has led her to publish thirty-eight books, each a reflection of her love for literature, her profound understanding of human nature, and her deep respect for Afghan culture and history.
In addition to her literary achievements, Nafisa has contributed to Afghanistan’s media landscape, working as a writer for the Kabul Times newspaper, Bakhtar Agency, and the magazines Merman and Sadaf. Her work has enriched the literary and cultural dialogue, blending humor, philosophy, and insightful social commentary into a cohesive and unique voice.
In 2020, Nafisa completed her studies in pedagogy in English while residing in the United Arab Emirates, further expanding her expertise and broadening her international perspective. Today, she continues to inspire with her multifaceted contributions to literature, education, and psychology, cementing her place as one of the most esteemed literary figures in the contemporary Afghan intellectual scene.
